Lauren Kelley MS, RD, LD – Sports Nutritionist Lauren Kelley is a registered, licensed dietitian with in-depth experience in several areas of nutrition. In 1999, Kelley received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, with a degree in the fields of health and science. Shortly after, Kelley received a second Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition from the University of Houston in 2002. She then gained her master’s degree in Nutritional Science at Texas Woman’s University in Houston, Texas. Kelley started her career as a pediatric dietitian and exercise specialist at Texas Children’s Hospital’s Wellness Center in Houston, Texas. While there, she created and implemented wellness camps for children of all ages, administered family group nutrition classes and provided one-on-one nutrition and exercise counseling for various diagnoses. Additionally, she worked in the hospital’s Adolescent and Sports Medicine Center, specializing in assisting clients who suffered from eating disorders and weight management issues. Kelley’s scope of experience includes treating patients with weight management, sports nutrition, eating disorders, diabetes, hyperlipidemia or hypertension and GI disorders. Kelley has also dedicated an extensive amount of time to educating individuals on leading an overall healthier lifestyle. She is a contributing author in the book "Texas Children's Hospital's Family Guide to Fighting Fat", published in Houston, Texas in 2007. Kelley is a certified Weight Management Specialist through the American Dietetics Association. As a tri-athlete, runner and certified personal trainer, she is passionate in assisting athletes to meet their nutritional needs for optimal performance. Currently, Kelley is the team nutritionist for a Houston area beginner triathlon training team and a MS150 cycling group. She is also a contributing author for USAT’s Triathlon Life magazine. Kelley serves on the Nutrition Committee for the Houston Food Bank, where she assists in advising various children’s nutrition programs in the community. |
