Dr. Heiman received his undergraduate degree at the University of Vermont in 1971, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1975 and completed his one-year internship at the University of Oregon Health Science Center and one-year of residency in general surgery at Boston University Medical Center. His orthopaedic residency was completed at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Heiman practiced orthopaedic surgery in Houston, Texas from 1980 to 1991 when he moved his practice to The Woodlands, Texas. Dr. Heiman has served as Chief of Surgery at Fort Bend Hospital in Missouri City and Memorial Hospital - The Woodlands. He has also served as Vice Chief of Surgery at West Houston Medical Center. Dr. Heiman currently serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the Texas Society for Sports Medicine, the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, theTexas Orthopaedic Association, the Southern Orthopaedic Association, the Southern Medical Association, the MidAmerica Orthopaedic Association, the Houston Orthopaedic Society and the Montgomery County Medical Association. Dr. Heiman has privileges at Surgery Center of The Woodlands, St. Luke's Community Medical Center of The Woodlands and Memorial Hermann Hospital of The Woodlands. In 2005, Dr. Heiman was elected president of the Physician’s Investment Corporation (the governing body of the Surgery Center of The Woodlands). He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition, Dr. Heiman and his partners at The Woodlands Sports Medicine Center serve as team physicians for several area high schools. |
