Injury prevention and recovery

The number one threat to an athlete’s career is injury. Fortunately, TEKTONIC has identified a number of effective prevention strategies and recovery methods to get you back into the game. Our physical therapists and sports performance coaches have the knowledge, expertise and resources to successfully take you from the stages of an acute injury to preparing you for return-to-play in the most efficient and ethical way possible.

The following effective injury prevention and recovery methods are essential to an athlete’s health and career longevity.

1. Restoration Sessions
Ideal for injury prevention and speeding up the recovery process, restoration sessions involve a quick physical therapy screening and the use of manual therapy, modalities, active isolated stretching and foam rollers under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist. Regeneration sessions can be used after games, practices and training sessions to speed recovery and prevent future injury. These sessions require an appointment.

2. Sports Physical Therapy
Encompassing rehabilitation and sports medicine services designed to serve the athletic population, our sports medicine and performance team afford the injured athlete everything necessary for an optimal training experience. Our extensive sports physical therapy program is available to athletes of every age. All athletes will first undergo a comprehensive evaluation. The athlete’s evaluation is composed of a biomechanical assessment that includes the examination of throwing, hitting, jumping and agility movements. The sports physical therapist then develops and implements a treatment plan based upon functional impairments. Our goal is to have the athlete in a continued training regimen to maintain as much competitive form as possible, in addition to receiving a rehabilitation program. We have an extensive evidence-based program for the rehabilitation of surgical and non-surgical orthopedic injuries.

3. Performance Physical Therapy
In addition to treating your primary injury, we will address your individual athletic needs. While respecting the tissue healing process, you will be able to work on many other issues that could be exploiting the injured area. This takes place in an environment that facilitates physical and mental gains needed to overcome adversity.

Our goal is to offer a seamless transition from the acute stages of injury (including the repair and remodeling phases) through to return-to-competition. You will progress from basic rehab components to our rehab programs, designed to reduce the incidence of injury for the remainder of your career.

During your rehabilitation time, TEKTONIC’s team will focus on your current injury and address additional needs through:

Metabolic Testing: to develop an energy system program according to the needs of your position and sport field in accordance with any precautions or contraindications regarding your injury.

Full Body Evaluation: to identify contributing injury factors, as well as rehabilitation (preventive development) to reduce the risk of potential injury in other areas.

Total Body Strength, Flexibility and Core Development: to prioritize any precautions and contraindications due to injury.

Each aspect of our program is customized to the individual athlete and coordinated with the performance staff to ensure an integrated approach.

Everything is done under one roof in an optimal environment, dedicated to elite athletes and designed to preserve the athlete’s privacy.

Performance physical therapy goals:

  • Decrease time lost due to injury
  • Improve performance upon return to sport
  • Implement long-term solutions to minimize the incidence of future injuries

4. Return-to-Sport Training/Injury Prevention Training
Designed for athletes not yet ready to return-to-sport or hindered by musculoskeletal injuries, this comprehensive performance evaluation is used to design a specific program that will help the athlete safely return back to sport while minimizing future risk of injury. This program will consist of, but is not limited to: injury prevention exercises, flexibility, restoration techniques, stability training, manual therapy and modalities.
